Physician Peer Reviewer
NMR services a diverse geographic coverage area and provides medical reviews on a nationwide scale. NMR maintains a Peer Clinical Reviewer panel of approximately 400 active peer clinical reviewers. Many of our reviewers hold multiple state licenses, as well as board certifications in more than one specialty or sub- specialty. NMR’s panel has reviewers from each of the American Board of Medical Specialties’ (ABMS) 24 specialty boards, as well as reviewers who are boarded by the American Osteopathic Association Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists (AOABOS). In addition, NMR has many ancillary health care reviewers, in areas such as Acupuncture, Chiropractic, Dentistry, Massage Therapy, Naturopathy, Occupational Therapy, Optometry, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Oriental Medicine, Physical Therapy, Podiatry, Psychology, Social Work and Speech Therapy.
All Reviewers assigned to cases have a working knowledge of the specific issue under review. For appeal level reviews that require same or similar specialty match, NMR selects a peer with the same or similar specialty of the physician or health care provider under review; they are in active practice and, when required, the Reviewer is licensed in the same state as the provider under review.
ARBITRATOR
NMR’s panel of Arbitrators hold active membership in either the American Arbitration Association or the American Health Law Association. Many are also licensed attorneys currently in active practice.
CERTIFIED CODER
NMR’s panel of certified Coders and Bill Review Specialists hold active coding certification from AHIMA/AAPC (RHIA, RHIT, CCA, CIC, CCS, CPC, COC, CIC, CPB, CPMA), as well as, have previous professional Inpatient, Outpatient, Home Health/Hospice or Professional Medical Coding experience. NMR’s Credentialing Department maintains an active recruitment process resulting in an ever-expanding panel, which in turn allows for the prompt response to clients’ needs for a reviewer with a specific specialty and/or specific state license. NMR will continue to recruit and expand the panel.
